Poolline Residence is a bold and contemporary architectural composition that reinterprets the suburban home through spatial transparency, material honesty, and strong indoor-outdoor connectivity. Organized around a long, narrow central pool, the house’s layout encourages a direct interaction with water, light, and landscape from nearly every space.
Ground Floor
The main entry reveals a generous open-plan layout where the kitchen, dining area, and living space coexist in a fluid environment, framed by polished concrete surfaces and warm timber finishes. A sequence of rooms—service areas, studio, and living quarters—are distributed around the pool, providing both visual continuity and clear zoning. A semi-enclosed outdoor expansion with built-in barbecue, wood-fired oven, and shower celebrates the social lifestyle of the home and reinforces its seamless connection with exterior functions.
Upper Floor
A sculptural timber stair leads to the upper level, where the private domain is located. The master suite with en-suite bath is strategically positioned for privacy and overlooks the pool, while two generous roof terraces extend the living experience outward and upward, offering panoramic views and enhancing passive cooling. These terraces also act as extended living rooms under the sky, suited for lounging or entertaining.
Architectural Elements
Material Palette: Exposed concrete, steel framing, timber cladding, and textured plaster coexist in honest contrast, highlighting the structure’s layered identity.
Fenestration Strategy: Floor-to-ceiling glazing and operable windows ensure natural cross-ventilation and daylighting, while vertical blinds and screens allow for privacy and solar control.
Roof Design: The asymmetrical, inclined steel roof floats above the double-height volume, generating a dynamic profile while expressing tectonic lightness.
Sustainability Considerations
Passive design strategies are embedded throughout: operable windows for natural ventilation, deep overhangs for shading, and a narrow floor plan that maximizes daylight and airflow. The integration of green walls and planted terraces contributes to thermal comfort and urban biodiversity.
Poolline Residence is a spatially rich and experientially dynamic home that bridges openness with shelter, privacy with community, and raw materiality with refined living.
