Folded House

Location

Argentina

Project type

Single House

Folded House is a contemporary residence defined by strong geometric expression, monolithic materiality, and a seamless integration with its site. The project explores the sculptural potential of exposed concrete, pairing it with steel, glass, and natural textures to create a dynamic, layered home.

The residence is organized over two levels, anchored by a stepped landscape and a sunken pool that reflects the terraced form of the architecture. A distinctive folding roofline and sharply angled volumes create a bold silhouette, while generous terraces and operable glazing ensure a constant dialogue between indoors and out.

Lower Level
The ground floor opens with a restrained, minimalist façade that conceals a generous open-plan interior. Here, the kitchen, dining, and living spaces extend across the linear footprint, framed by concrete walls and filtered light. Service areas, bathrooms, and social zones are clearly defined, while strategic window placement ensures cross-ventilation and privacy.

Upper Level
Private spaces are arranged around a central staircase and open onto a long terrace that spans the width of the house. The master suite and additional bedrooms benefit from views and light while maintaining seclusion. A striking angular window at the building’s edge reinforces the home’s geometric identity.

Materiality & Sustainability
Exposed concrete serves as both structure and finish, giving the house a raw yet refined character. Black corrugated metal and timber accents provide contrast and warmth. Passive solar control, cross-ventilation, and natural insulation contribute to energy efficiency and year-round comfort.

Folded House is a bold architectural statement—modern, efficient, and deeply rooted in material clarity and spatial intention.
